Vedros & Associates Announces New Plans

New and exciting things are afoot at Vedros & Associates, as this note from Nick Vedros outlines. Read on...

Dear Friends,

Last year the Vedros Studio enjoyed one of its most critically and commercially successful years in its 35 years of business.

While evaluating what made last year our third best year ever, we found a shift in the assignments that have been coming to us. In the last 12 months we have completed far more assignments on location−outside the studio−not only in Kansas City, but also in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Montana, and other national locations.

Acting on that knowledge, I am taking a new approach in the way I operate my studio.

I will sell the studio’s physical structure and I will operate without a dedicated studio space. I am planning and designing new production offices, which I will incorporate into the Vedros residence. I will keep the incredible equipment I have accumulated over the years. I am quite excited about this change; for years, I have craved more freedom and I feel this will provide it.

I will continue my photography without interruption. For the rare shoots requiring a traditional studio, there are many local studios available for rental. I have used out-of-town rental studios for years.

During and after this transformation, I will continue working with my indispensable group of Associates:

Michael McCorkle - Digital Artist
Kevin Porter - Producer & First Assistant
Nicholas Vedros - Vedros Motion Director
Michael Stine - Vedros Motion Director of Photography
Caitlin Miller - Artists’ Representative
Jean Evans - Accounting Manager
Patty Vedros - Secretary to the Corporation

On a bittersweet note, Gabe Hopkins will continue his outstanding photography, but independent of Vedros and Associates. Gabe and I have enjoyed a wonderful 13-year association and I wish Gabe the best. Few photographic working relationships worked as well as ours.

I look forward to my newfound freedom as this change occurs. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us for any projects. The studio is still operational and is booking assignments during our transition.

Separately, Vedros Motion is experiencing massive growth this year and will continue to split their time between Kansas City and Los Angeles. Be on the lookout for a new reel in the coming months.

All the best
Nick
