Return of the Road Warrior

I’m happy to say that this ad2 post is being typed from the comfort of my desk in Kansas City. It feels good. I looked back at the last time I contributed an article to get inspired for this round. It was written while shooting on location in Dallas with t2 + Back Alley for AMC Theatres.

I then realized that after that trip, a majority of this summer was also spent on the road. It was a great summer, both personally and professionally.

Personally I’ve enjoyed watching Zoey grow, spending time on our boat, and cruising around on our new golf cart. Leslie and I also took a trip to Austin, TX to celebrate her birthday with friends.

Professionally, it was a fun and very busy summer. Had a few returning clients and even more new clients. They ranged from airlines, banks, and tech companies, to a cancer research center in Nevada, and a fly fishing lodge in Montana.

I have been to Wichita, Springfield, Columbia, St. Louis three times, Chicago twice, Bloomington, Peoria, Austin, Vegas twice, a few small towns in Montana, Yellowstone, and Dallas in the past few months. I put over 1500 miles on a Honda Fit while shooting for Bernstein-Rein, caught a Cubs game in Chicago with Dave Thornhill, Pete Meyer, and Travis Schlitter, and drank whiskey with an 85 year old man named Walter.

As great as it all has been it is always so great to get back to KC. I love it here…and it keeps getting better. It seems like Kansas City is really starting to make a real name for itself. We have Livestrong Sporting Park and the Kaufman Center for the Performing Arts (I’ve been lucky enough to shoot in both!) and Google is installing the fastest Internet in the world, along with so many other great things going on.

Take a look at some random photos taken during this summer’s travels here.

Be sure to keep an eye out as all of this summer’s hard work starts popping up in its finished form.
