It's official: spring has arrived in Kansas City. Now, it remains to be seen if winter is ready to release its grasp on the city but at least we know the old man's days are numbered. The Pitch Sells to SouthComm of Nashville: In a bit of an unexpected move, Nashville-based SouthComm Inc. has purchased Kansas City alt-weekly The Pitch from Village Voice Media. Current editor Joe Tone has elected to stay with Village Voice, which means that he will be leaving his post as editor. Managing editor Scott Wilson will be taking his place until a permanent appointment is made.
Crispin's Breakup With the King Results in $300 Million Whopper Sacrifice: After seven years and six quarters of declining sales, Burger King and CP+B are parting ways. It has been announced that Burger King -- currently without a CMO -- will launch the review for a new agency without engaging a search consultant.
KCDMA Gears Up for the 2011 AMBIT Awards: Wednesday night will be a big one for area direct marketers as the KCDMA recognizes and awards the best of the best in local direct marketing efforts from this past year. The annual event, to be held this year at the Boulevard Brewing Company, is sure to feature a unique mix of traditional and digital efforts as area direct marketers continue to push their practices forward by integrating tried and true tactics with digital elements.
