The CHILLYs: Meet the Chefs, Part Four

January 12, 2012

Posted by John Kreicbergs

Good chili is easy to make. Great chili is a little tougher. But award-winning chili is an achievement only few can lay claim to. Let’s see who makes the best chili in the KC ad community, at the CHILLYs. Fifteen contestants will fight bowl to spoon to win the most coveted prize next to an ADDY.

From now until January 26th, we're going to be profiling a few of our fiery fifteen every week. We've already introduced you to No Gas Shortage, Chili to Dyerson For, and Brookside's Best. Last week you also met El Rayo Rojo, 104West 44North, and Chili Con Chelsea. Then there was Chili Bean is Not My Lover, the Lurking Intern, and the Pope of Chilitown. Time to meet our next three contestants. Read on...

Robert Bishop & Matt Shaw // LunchBlogKC.com
Team Name: Kneecap Chili

Why is our team called Kneecap Chili? Because we’re willing to do what it takes to win, and if that means kneecapping one, more or all of our competitors, then so be it. Also, our chili may or may not have kneecaps in it. We don’t know. We haven’t really figured out our recipe yet. (Robert Bishop is a copywriter at Grey Healthcare Group. Matt Shaw is a senior art director at Salva O’Renick.)

Aaron Lindberg // Bernstein Productions
Team name: Burn, Wind & Fire!

Five types of beans, pork sausage & ground turkey braised in a Bully Porter. If you put a bowl of this chili on top of your head your tongue would burrow through your brain to get to it.

Dan Olexa // Creative Printing
Team Name: King of All Chilidia

As a sales rep with a degree in broadcasting, I know a little bit about hot air -- how to create it, how to manipulate it and how to keep it coming. The same skills apply to making chili - a little spice for interest and secret ingredients to excite the palate. Skillfully weaving those together, I create the most complex tapestry of texture and taste to keep 'em coming back for more. Of course, the bean fiber keeps it coming too. But that's for your co-workers on Friday...
