AAF-KC Sports Network Update

Lots of leagues would cry about the hot weather and wilt under the pressure: not the AAF-KC Kickball League though! In week 4, lots of liquids were consumed and great kickball followed. After four weeks, the standings are tight and the battle for seeding in the tournament has just begun. With three more weeks of the regular season, it could all change so stay tuned, and come join us at Gillham Park next Tuesday starting at 6 PM. It's free and worth a few laughs for sure!

VML - 8, 99 Problems but my kick ain't one - 1
99 Problems but my kick ain't one (T2) and VML came into this game frustrated with their records and ready to battle it out to the finish. It started off as a defensive battle. Both teams looked incredibly strong and made some stellar catches. But VML caught a break in the third inning, and with a series of strategic bunts and a home run, they pulled strongly into the lead. T2 made a good run for it, getting several runners on base, but just couldn't quite get them home. VML may have won this battle, but both teams showed they're not done with this season yet, in fact, things are just getting started!

Goodwill Bunting - 15, Rockets Are Red - 5
The game was evenly matched the first few innings, but Goodwill Bunting (Bernstein-Rein) got some wings when the Red Bull team stopped by with free energy drinks mid-game that helped GWB kick-off the second half with an in-field homerun! Great outfielding by Goodwill Bunting helped win the game and Rockets are Red (Barkley) definitely gave us a run for our money. Chelsea Fitch, Rockets are Red team captain, said, "It was a bloodbath."

Fowl Balls - 3, Los Hierros – 2
It was a fight to the death between first place Los Hierros and tied-for-second Fowl Balls (ER Marketing). The Fowl Balls took an early lead in the first inning with 2 runs, answered by only 1 from Los Hierros. Strong defense by both teams kept the next two innings went scoreless with Los Hierros, famous for bunting, suffering a 3rd out in the 3rd for too many bunts. With an incredible sprint from 1st on home, followed by Fowl Balls member Kyle Rohde arguing against a call that was in favor of his own team (what a hothead!), Los Hierros tied it up in the 4th. But after a Fowl Balls score in the 5th, they took the win.

Fowl Balls – 2, Slayers - 0
After an emotional win in the first game of the double-header, the Fowl Balls needed to recharge and get ready for another tough matchup with the always-tough Slayers (Sullivan Higdon & Sink) in the nightcap. The Slayers kept loading up the bases, only to be stopped thanks to timely defense by the Fowl Balls. And the great pitching/defense by the Slayers kept the Fowl Balls from scoring beyond the two runs in the first inning. In the end, the Fowl Balls took the tough win.
