AAF-KC Sports Network Update

Week three action heated up Tuesday night at Gillham Park as the AAF-KC Kickball League competitors continue their march towards the tournament and the glory a championship can provide. With lots of close games and 100+ degree temps, players were all feeling the heat. Three games into the seven game regular season, way-too-many-time defending champs Los Hierros are undefeated at 2-0 with Pitches 'B Crazy and the Fowl Balls close behind at 2-1 each. Next week is a pivotal one in the season and includes the Fowl Balls vs. Los Hierros in a 6 PM matchup sure to be exciting.
The Fowl Balls 3 – I've Got 99 Problems but a Kick Ain't One 1
Both teams kept the game close throughout, as the pitching on defense on both sides was stellar all game long. By the 6th inning, however, the Fowl Balls (ER Marketing) were in danger of blowing their 3-run lead. 99 Problems (T2) got one run across and had more players on base when Fowl Balls 1B (and ER Marketing partner) Renae Gonner snagged a hard-kicked line drive down the line, then stepped on first for the rare and game-winning unassisted double play. The Fowl Balls might be the only team in the league with the agency's leaders on the roster, and hopefully that's a trend we'll see grow in the future!
Pitches B' Crazy 6 – Good Will Bunting 5
The tenacious Pitches Be Crazy (DEG) sought redemption last night as they channeled their inner phoenixes against the undefeated Good Will Bunting (Bernstein-Rein). Tensions escalated as the innings drew on, culminating in a tense show down late in the 6th. With excitement and anguish that could rival any World Series game 7, the two teams gritted it out with stunning feats of athleticism and heroism. Sources agree that this was the finest display of kickball this season. The Good Will Bunters put up a ferocious fight, but unfortunately (for them), came up just short. DEG dedicated themselves to a grueling pre-game practice--and because of that--were able to gallantly rise from the ashes and avenge last week’s loss, walking away with a 6-5 win against Good Will Bunting.
Meers 6 – VML 2
VML started off strong, leading the defending champions 2-1 heading into the 4th inning. But Los Hierros showed their experience and why they are champions. With a stellar inning, Meers pulled ahead 6-2. VML blames the fact that it was too hot to drink beer, and without beer, it's hard to adequately play kickball.
I've Got 99 Problems but a Kick Ain't One 6 – Slayers 2
T2, still winless on the season, was fed up with their non-winning ways and they took it out on SHS in the second game of their double-header week. Quickly jumping out to a 3-0 lead, SHS battled back in the 4th to only be down 3-2. In the top of the 6th, T2 let it all hang out and slammed 3 more runs to their lead. SHS crumbled under the pressure and couldn't crack the T2 code. Is T2 the new dark horse to win it all? Who knows. They sure do like to party, though, and that's winner enough for this league!
